Fictional map - Filho da Nkite - Fio da Espada

Fictional map of the novel "Filho da Nkite - Fio da Espada" by the author Angelo Yamazaki. The project demanded as requirements that the map's detail offer enough to briefly suggest: natural resources, borders, geographical pressures, routes, degree of development of peoples, demographic comparisons between peoples, with light tone and dynamic humor.

Restrictions: from a request of the client and because of the context of the novel, the style of representation of the drawing needed to be three-dimensional, figurative-fanciful, with the presence of lines, rendered / colored. The map would need to be printed and e-book printed.

Solutions: Cel shading language + free exploration of textures, lines and focal points

References: The setting of the book is based on medieval fantasy, we closed the cut in "pop" culture + classics of the medieval genre + artists specialized in cartography for fantasy. Examples: Akira Toriyama (Chrono Trigger), Olaus magnus and Francesca Baerald

Creative process and assembly

I was free to add geographic dynamics that were necessary to argue the boundaries, and boundaries between groups on the map. With the exception of the conceptual elements of the narrative, I was able to add and co-create natural divisions such as rivers, mountains, depressions, plateaus, and city arrangements.
